Eczema Skin Problem

Eczema, also known as atopic dermatitis, is a skin problem that causes coin sized patches on the skin. Itching ,redness and cracking are the problems related to eczema skin disorder. Some part of the skin might erupt into rashes on some people the rashes might even occur on the whole body. The inside areas of the elbows are a common areas where the eczema can develop. Eczema skin problem should be treated with patience and caution.

The prominent areas where the eczema can develop are hands, elbows, back of the knees and the back of the elbows. In small children, this rash can start developing from the face. Do not allow any pets to get on to the beds or on the furniture. Extreme climates can also elevate eczema that can irritate the skin. Maintain normal temperatures in the houses and the cars. Mental stress can also cause eczema. Try to keep the stress in control and indulge yourself into some kind of activity that will help maintain a balanced life.

Take a bath once a day for not more than ten minutes. Children or the babies suffering from eczema can also have a short bath. Use mild soaps like Tone, Dove etc for taking a bath. Use baby soaps for the babies and the small children. Keep the use of the soaps as minimum as possible. Use it only to clean the armpits, hands, feet and the genital areas if you are not too sweaty.

Pat the skin with a soft towel, instead of rubbing the skin. This will prevent flaking of the skin. You must try to keep the skin moist after taking baths/ showers by using moisturizers and the Lubriderm, Aquaphor oils specially recommended for eczema. It is also very important to drink lots of water. This will help maintain the moisture level of your body and than also your skin.
